We’re starting 2024 with a big update, thanks to the suggestions of a number of fellow farriers that use the app. Here’s what is in this version:

Invoices now can have logos

Yes, it took a very long time to add this, but it’s here. Now you can add your own logo to the invoices, which is something a lot of you asked for. The logo is backed up to the cloud and is downloaded when you log into a device. You will need to be connected to the internet when you pick a logo and save it, but after that the app keeps a copy in your device for when you’re not online. We had to swap the farrier and client info sides on the invoice so it would make sense, so now your business info is on the left and the client info on the right, see the picture above to see what the new layout looks like.

You can pick a logo from the settings screen, just go to More > Settings & Tools > Logo and pick the logo image you want to use. The image can be chosen from your device photo library, or Google Drive if you use an Android.

New report available

We added a new report called “Horse Service History”. It lists all the services and products charged for a horse and the dates, so you can see all the work that was done and when. One of our users was asked for this information because of an insurance claim, and we thought it would be a good addition to the app.

Invoices and reports also accessible via links

When you email an invoice or report, as long as you’re connected to the internet, the app now uploads a copy of the PDF to the cloud and creates a link to it. The PDF can then be accessed by browser on a computer or phone for 7 days. If the upload fails, you receive a notification on the home screen, and then you can email the invoice or report again if necessary when your device has a connection (doing that will create a new PDF download link).

This was done to provide another workaround for people who may still be having issues with email attachments on Android, so even if the attachment doesn’t get sent, you can still access the PDF via the link provided. We haven’t received any support requests about this problem in a while, so if you’re still having those issues, please let us know.

Better text messages

Now you can add customized messages for appointment reminders and when sending invoices via text messages. In the app settings, under  the Schedule Preferences and Invoice and Payment Preferences sections, you’ll find fields for extra text for SMS. Any text you enter there will be added to the respective text messages, after the default message text. You can use them to customize your messages with any extra information, like bank account details for the invoices, or requesting that clients call you back to confirm the appointment when they get a reminder.

Also, we improved the balance reminders added in the previous version. Now the message also lists all the unpaid invoices, along with their dates and balances.

Other additions and changes

We also made a few other smaller changes and additions:

In the Account History report, you can now select an end date other than “today”. The account balance will reflect the balance on the last date you selected.

The character limit for your business name was increased. Turns out some of you like really long names 😄

In the app settings there’s a new setting under Schedule Preferences called “Day ends at”. Previously, the schedule screen would show times from the time specified in the “Day starts at” setting to midnight. Now you can set an end time, if you don’t want or need to see the whole day on the schedule screen. Appointments with start times before the starting hour or end times after the end hour get cut off  on the screen appropriately when they go beyond the boundaries, but the times are still the correct ones if you open them and look at their details.

We added a new setting to contacts, called “Print account balance on invoices”. If you uncheck it, the account balance is no longer shown on the invoices. Each contact has their own independent setting, which defaults to “yes”.

Username reminder and how to reset password message after a user enter their credentials incorrectly a couple of times on the login screen. The majority of support requests we get are from users having trouble logging in because they don’t know their username or how to reset their password, so hopefully that will help in those cases.

In the contact import tool, you can now search for contacts. Useful if you only want to add specific contacts from your phone address book, now you don’t have to scroll down the list to find them.
