About Best Farrier
Hello! This is Mauro Reis, Best Farrier’s creator. Let me tell you a little about the journey that’s brought me in touch with you.
I’ve been a software engineer for 39 years. I was 15, learning to code in technical high school, and I liked it. Even better, I was good at it. I started my first software engineer job that same year.
Since then, I’ve worked with a variety of platforms and programming languages, writing software for a range of industries. I got into working with WordPress, developing new themes and custom plugins. More recently, I started app development. And that, of course, leads to creating Best Farrier.

Why an App for Farriers?
Let me tell you what else happened along the way here. About 19 years ago, I decided I didn’t want to work as a full-time software engineer. Sitting still at a desk plus a lot of other factors were really wearing on me. I decided I wanted a complete change. So, I was getting my haircut one day, and found myself listening to the hair stylist about jobs I might like that are mobile and mostly outdoors. I care about and have great respect for animals. I like working on things with my hands. By the end of that haircut appointment, I decided that being a farrier sounded good to me.
I took some time to look around, and after finding a farrier who was willing to teach me the craft, I quit my job and became a farrier’s apprentice.
But I never stopped being a software engineer, because my partner Lydia is a web designer, and it’s a funny thing that just as I was starting this new profession, we started getting more inquiries for custom developed websites.
We both worked during the day: Lydia as a full-time designer, and me shoeing horses, and when I got home, we’d work on building websites together.

Fast-Forward to 2019
I began serious work on the Best Farrier app in 2019. I’d thought about doing this app for years, and even started working on it a few times, but I had always paused the project as life was already so busy.
But it finally happened! My two areas of knowledge meshed, resulting in a sleek and functional app for farriers to run their businesses on the go. I hope you’ll enjoy using the app as much as I enjoyed creating it. I have a few ideas for enhancements in mind, and expect the Best Farrier app to keep getting better.
Thank you for taking a little time to get to know me. I look forward to hearing from you about how Best Farrier becomes part of your workday. My goal is to make the Best Farrier app, so you can be the best farrier you can be.
